I'm a rookie writer enjoying the flow of words sprouting out of my fingers. Sometimes it goes easy, at other times it's a real struggle. I love and crave any kind of feedback, good or bad. I write when I can, but a husband, two kids, 4.2 cats (aging from 15 years to 4 months) do take up most of my time. Yet I found the time to try out something I never thought I was good at. I started writing. I came to love it and enjoy the new friendships I've made with fellow writers I simply adore (well I like the writers, but adore their work *grins*)

Review: Fire of a Dragon

Fire of a Dragon Fire of a Dragon by Alisa Woods
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

i really loved the conclusion of this story. nothing went easy and shouldn't be! but i enjoyed how these two have found a way to be together even if certain people are against them and will go to no ends to F up their happily ever after. specially when "our" leading lady is having such precious cargo, it's the future that is at stake.
if you have read book 1 and 2 you have to read this one, it just completes their story!

Review: Kiss of a Dragon

Kiss of a Dragon Kiss of a Dragon by Alisa Woods
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

really enjoyed this new series.
lucian is a dragon prince, bound to find himself a mate to bond with and have a cute little baby dragonling, all this to double his lifespan and uphold a treaty with the fae world.
he set his eye on arabella. something about her stirs his heart but he's dead set on not falling in love with the woman. he just needs her to fall in love with him.
his little trickery only results in her being very angry with him and that's the start of a thrilling ride of acceptance, love and some drama along the way.

really enjoyed the start of this series. it was heartbreaking at times. seeing the evident love shine through, yet they don't want to give in.

a good book to bring with you on holiday!

Review: Bloodlines

Bloodlines Bloodlines by Tabatha Kiss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

so much is happening that for once i won't tell the start of it. but one event leads to a war between families and continents. i was happy to learn how a certain character we know from previous books has made his escape! (even telling this is not even telling!)
you get sucked in from the moment the book starts 12 years ago and then moves forwards to the now.
the pain, the heartache, the brutality, the killings... it's like the other three books were a build up to this one even if timewise you could start with this one and then read the others.

a must have if you loved the Snake Eyes books!!

Review: Detective Bear (Bear Shifter Paranormal Romance)

Detective Bear (Bear Shifter Paranormal Romance) Detective Bear (Bear Shifter Paranormal Romance) by Scarlett Grove
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

don't know what it is, but i always like scarlett grove's books. this one ain't no different.
Gauge has been investigating the crystal problem for months and he's finally making progress, so much so that he's able to infiltrate them. just as he's about to walk out he gets a message on his phone, he's been matched on mate.com. he knows he can't meet up right now but he also doesn't want to not respond. looking at the pictures of his possible mate has his heart beating double.
lola lockheart has been forced by her stepbrother to cut crystal. she's not to be spoken to, she can't leave and his hands are way too loosely groping her at every chance he gets. her one escape and connection with the outside world is a cellphone she keeps hidden. out of curiosity she reads up on mate.com and even signs up. if he would know about this all she wouldn't last a day! her nightmare comes true when her phone beeps just as her stepbrother is in her tent. she'd been matched.
everything starts going wrong. there is a new guard, one who can't stay away, one who's she's drawn too like a moth to a flame. when the guards tells her who he really is and he's getting her out of there she insists on getting a token from her late mother.

and then the story really gets interesting and the pace picks up as we move to the conclusion of this story.

another wonderful addition to the Bear Patrol series. knowing a few more are coming makes me one happy reader! on pins and needles untill the nest one.

Review: Gambling on Her Bear

Gambling on Her Bear Gambling on Her Bear by Anna Lowe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

karen is a dragon shifter who's convinced she can't fly, is rather impulsive and holds a little bit of magic.
when she has er eyes set on a blood diamond she wants to "take back", her impulsive nature not only lands her in the hands of vampire but also in the path of bear shifter Tanner Lloyd. he's infiltrated the vampire coven for his own reasons. as head of security, he gets to handle to new bundle of trouble karen, the same woman he had the best night of his life with.
he wants to help karen (and he does) but he also can't forget about his own agenda. he meets up with her again and puts all his cards on the table, hoping to work something out.
in the middle of all of this both are fighting (and losing) the attraction toward each other.

a thriller ride from start to finish. karen and her dragon are simply a hott, their conversations are too funny at times. Tanner and his bear: just the same. it really was a joy to read about them, even better that it was set in the same world were we got to know some of the characters in the first place!
a must have if you enjoyed the CIV series by multiple authors.

Review: Her Wolf

Her Wolf Her Wolf by Rebecca Royce
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ashlee has one male on her mind, but he's hairy, silent, broody and solitary. and he walks on four paws ....
she's drawn to the lone wolf each time she passes his enclosure. he's never interacting with the rest of the pack. one day when she's thinking about the wolf she breaks her one rule and actually talks to him. what she didn't expect was for him to talk back to her in her mind!
tristan doesn't know what comes over him when the one female talks to him and seems to understand him. captured and trapped for months now, tristan can't shift back without giving away he's a shifter. but now that ashlee can hear him, he knows he has to get out, and fast.

what follow is a revealing conversation and a lot of convincing. when ashlee comes to free him during the night, he hoped he would have a shot at going home without much trouble. but they didn't even get of the parking lot as they're attacked. his brother rushes in to safe achlee but tristan is growly. for one he's holding his brother responsible for him being captured, convinced he had something to do with it. secondly he got his paws on ashlee!

with this whirlwind start we get thrown into the deep end, or rather ashlee is. a whole new world opens up to her, family secrets are shared and told. pragmatic as she is, she rolls with the flow. she doesn't just accept things but she doesn't whine about them either. she just wants to understand. a whole heap of troubles is now on her plate and ashlee is now the only one who can sort out these troubles, with the help of her newfound pack.

captivating read, it had a nice pace to it. never did i feel like a scene was being dragged out. it had a nice build up, loved the characters.
well done rebecca royce

Review: Reign: A Royal Military Romance

Reign: A Royal Military Romance Reign: A Royal Military Romance by Roxie Noir
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hazel has been asked by her mother to join her in a small country where she's currently working as an ambassador. but hazel has been traveling and with little to no time to really make herself presentable she manages to greet the small countries royal family dressed in a sweater and a pair of tight pants, smelling like she hasn't showered in months...
the disapproval is written on their faces, not to mention the gorgeous hunk of prince is sharing the sentiment.
during the first official dinner hazel has a bit of a hard time coming to grips with local customs. a shot of vodka before each course is making her tipsy real fast! when she has to excuse herself it's the prince, Kostya, that comes to her rescue. despite his seriousness, there seems to be a click between the two. it's like hazel tries her best to crack a joke but he's not getting any of them, which is the same the other way around.
another chance meeting makes it clear there are some serious sparks traveling between them.
but a highborn prince and just a normal american girl? his father won't stand for it, that's for sure!

the story of these two and the troubles his country is having are so woven together masterfully. when things really get worse it's up to the prince to proof he's up for the job! can he safe his country and at the same time give his own heart what it desires most?

artfully written, hot steamy scenes, enough conflict to last a lifetime, drama, heartache. it has roxie noir written all over it!. if you liked her previous work, this will be a welcome addition to your booklist!

Review: Ensnared: A Vampire Blood Courtesans Romance

Ensnared: A Vampire Blood Courtesans Romance Ensnared: A Vampire Blood Courtesans Romance by Rebecca Rivard
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

i enjoyed all the courtesan books, all were awesome reads. ensnared fits right in that series.
when one of the eldest vampires takes an interest in her , she doesn't really know what to do with that fact. her life is already a mess, when things get worse, she feels she has no other choice but to take up his offer: be his blood courtesan for 1 month.
the life she enters is like nothing she's seen before. remy is different from what is told about vampires, he's not even cold!
they settle in fine the first few days, being with him doesn't seem so bad. he's honest and he doesn't compel her to obey him. but then he's called back to France, during those days she starts doubting herself. being cooped up for so long she wants to go outside.
and that was her biggest mistake.
things go into overdrive with remy fastly returning to find and rescue her!

it really was a joy to read! remy is just .... he may be one of the oldest vampires around but he managed to keep most of his humanity but also have the ruthlessness that comes with being a vampire. he lifts the story to another level! (wouldn't mind reading more about him)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

from the moment they met there were sparks. when she finds out who he really is, she can't help but think about what is said about him. being the smart one she decides it's not her cup of tea even when she was attracted to him.
later that week she's about to meet her chemistry tutor and well her surprise is huge when the same young man steps in. his charm is still there, together with sincere interest in her and also to her surprise his knowledge. isn't there something he isn't good at? he sings, he looks hot, he's smart, he's a tutor.
he can't get her out of his mind, but at the same time he's convinced he can't give her what she needs. she's a relationship girl and that's something he doesn't do.

with sparks all over the place is was wrenching to read how he hurt her thinking he was doing the right thing, in turn hurting them both.

getting his mind in order to see what is right in front of him takes further away before he realizes how much he really cares.

a wonderful read of two unlikely people getting together and overcoming their own feelings. stephanie brother delivered another masterpiece

Review: Seer: Reckless Desires

Seer: Reckless Desires Seer: Reckless Desires by Holley Trent
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

andre always followed the visions he's given, he knows better then to ignore them. his last one takes him to the next state over, waiting for a young woman during her shift, who's leaving her new born babe alone while she runs as wolf during the full moon.
his vision showed where they were and it told him in no uncertain terms he had to bring them with him to Norseton.
tired from preventing his own shift, he has a lot to talk about and convince the woman to come with him. something about her calls to his wolf but getting her away and to a safe place is priority!
they arrive just in time for the full moon run, when they wake up together the morning after there is a bit of mystery for them. apparently their wolves mated ...
how are they going to explain that? technically she wasn't a single wolf ....

loved how andre handled everything, even how he messed up with giving her the time and space to settle in. even though he's a wolf and he can be bad ass, he's one of those that looks for the best outcome with least violence without shying away from it either.
enjoyed this book a lot! can't wait for the next one to arrive in norseton.

braxton is the one bear that isn't happy their pack has let in humans. after one of the cage fights there had been some uproar about t-shirts with less then positive messages towards the broken hill bears. just one human woman dares to talk to him but no matter what, he's not having it. whether what she says is helpful or not, she's human and that's all there is to it.
their paths cross again when the woman, neve, proves to be a bit more stubborn for his liking and he's not afraid to tell her.
but the troubles at the cage fights only get worse and braxton is told he's the one to sort it all out. he realizes he has no real other option as to reach out to the humans he so despices but he can only think of one he can remotely trust, neve.
after tracking her down, he knows he owes her an apology and after doing his best to convince her, he gets her on board trying to figure out what is going on and what they can do against it from a human, legal point of view.
what they find isn't something neither were expecting; not concerning the troubles at the cage fights, nor with each other.

this second book delves deeper into the workings and going ons of the broken hill bear's pack. danger is lurking just around the corner and once you think you're safe you're proven otherwise. hard choices need to be made before this story can head to it's HEA.

yay more draconians! scarlett is giving us more dragons! there aren't as in tune with humans because they're quite far away from our galaxy but after a few decades of peace and things settling down, the mating pool now opens up for them too. they just have to find a way how to deal with the mating pul once they're paired up with an earth female.
after some debate a way is found and the first of the elemental dragons gets news his mate has been found AND that she's willing to travel the distance and even agrees to get fertilized.
it's strange for celeste. she's told it will take up to a year to travel to the other side of the galaxy to meet the draconian she's paired with. it's even stranger she's asked to massage herself with artificial semen so her DNA can adapt to her matched draconian in order to try IVF. the elemental draconians hope in doing things this way, having their mate arrive already with a new born babe, it's easier to hold on to their position and also to help deal with the mating fever.
it's not an easy thing and it's a first for both celeste and salvatt, the fire prince.

join us in this new journey of multiple draconians who'll be getting paired up with feisty young ladies.

this was another quick read for me as i've read multiples of these books before they were put together in this set.
this is yet again another awesome collection of writers that excel in their genre. whether you like a wolf or a bear, there is something for both of you.
some are a bit longer reads and others are really short. you can fit in some reading wherever you are without having to feel like you're abandoning the story.
you're getting a few first in series and few that are further down the line but al can be read on their own and won't leave you with a cliffhanger ending.
great introduction to nice authors who provide wonderful books.

Review: Marauder Cygnus

Marauder Cygnus Marauder Cygnus by Aya Morningstar
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cygnus escaped with his brother, but only bearly. now his pod is out of fuel and he's drifting in space. his race is en route to earth to overtake them and force them to mate with his race but his brother tried convincing him that is the wrong thing to do. and now he's drifting, hibernating.
aura is alone on her ship and it's AI. nothing is wrong until suddenly all hell breaks loose and she has to make some on the spot decisions. the ships computer has found a pod in space and at the same time detected an space pirate ship. trying to escape she manages to load the pod unto her cargo ship but fails to escape the pirate ship.
when she quickly investigates the pod she didn't suspect to find a huge purple looking dude with ears on top of his head and no clothes on. when the pod stirs to live and opens up, at the same time waking up the purple dude, aura can't get over the fact how tall, huge and handsome he is (in all places *wink*).
the dominant behavior in cygnus would get on my nerves real quick if it wasn't for the fact that aura doesn't take his crap for granted and even uses his code of honor against him (she's tricky like that that). he proves more then once he's one hell of a fighter, in both his forms : marauder and bear. they manage to escape the pirate ship and manage to land on mars, the planet where cygnus' brother was last detected. but things just can't ever go smooth. the pirate captain has managed to make them the most sought after couple and it's with hard battle and great cunning they manage to escape and look for his brother.

the dialogue between cygnus and aura is just to die for, his internal voice a hoot to boot. this is really what made the story stand out. he really has his own way of thinking but you see it change as the story develops and he starts to see things for what they really are, not for what he's learned in the past.
a wonderful, outstanding, captivating and humorous read!

Review: Mate Of A Dragon Villain

Mate Of A Dragon Villain Mate Of A Dragon Villain by Mandy Rosko
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

amanda's writer with a bit of an OCD streak. when she's frantically looking for something she comes across a skeleton key in her desk. no clue how it got there and which door it's for. her OCD makes her test it out. then she opens THE door and she's falling, falling from the sky, screams escaping because she's sure she isn't going to survive this fall. until she's scooped up by a man with wings, dragon wings, a man who looks all too familiar but couldn't be true.
her rescuer looks just like the villain she wrote in her books, when he leaves her behind, baffled and surprised, she doesn't know what to make of it all. least of all the kiss he bestowed on her when he hid her behind a rock before flying off again.

a start to a deciding battle between good an evil, but amanda wouldn't be a good writer if she didn't think more was going on and she sets out to right the wrongs and keep her villain!

terrific read from start to finish! was hard to put down and was sad when it was over.

Mating Dance Mating Dance by Merryn Dexter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

35 years! 35! that's how long it took Sander to roam around in various places/jobs before a tragedy in his latest job has him considering where he really belongs. without a second thought he packed up everything and left to go back to his pack.
a few days are all he needs to find his spot again with the pack, like he wasn't away for decades.
that isn't counting on Rory, the young girl he left behind. when he sees her again his wolf had a very clear message for him : mate. and it seemed not only his wolf knew but the local matrons had set their sight on them as well.
Rory was fuming when she saw Sander again. he had left her. it had taken a lot but she managed to make a living, mostly in solitude but with Sander back things come crashing down, hard. in her fifties and still single, Sander is the one wolf who makes her own wolf preen and prance around him and knew at some level what he was to her but she couldn't accept it. he left them 35 years ago! 35!

what a joy it was to read about these two, them not being in their early twenties or thirties is also refreshing. love has no age!! gotta love these matrons and their meddling ways of bringing people together.

another masterpiece by the hand of devyn morgan. if you read most of his work you know he's good at his genre without beating too much around the bush.
this story isn't any different. 2 long time friends let time and distance get in the way. they never really forgot about each other but life and interests took them on a different path.
jared has always been gay, he didn't shout it from the rooftops but he didn't hide it either.
xavier was very much interested in girls and with sam he thought he found the right one, their parents pushing for a more permanent connection so they got engaged. but as the date grew neared xavier started having doubts about it all. doubts about who he really wanted. he couldn't keep sam hanging and after meeting up they agreed to call it quits and call of the wedding.
now the question was where to go and only one location popped up : jared. still dressed in the tux, his jeans in hand, he boarded a plane, flew over and knocked on jareds door. it's like their friendship never ended.
when they got to talking and why xavier was here jared couldn't belief his ears. but xavier only asked for one night but if one night was all he could get with the man of his dreams he would take it!!
one night turned into two, turned into something beneficial for both but they also knew they had decisions to make because in both their world being gay wasn't something you were, at least not openly.

will long-term friends-turned lovers, find a way to stay together of will their different paths in life tear them apart once more?
another heartbreak, gut-busting(certainly in this case!) story about finding and accepting love.

Review: THE MAN. THE GAME. THE BABY. (A Knight Brothers Novel)

THE MAN. THE GAME. THE BABY. (A Knight Brothers Novel) THE MAN. THE GAME. THE BABY. (A Knight Brothers Novel) by London Casey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

roman knight, the name alone makes those around him quiver. he doesn't back down ever, like he's a loose canon. he's like that on the field and of the field. he doesn't care about the consequences because he has a legal team to take care of it all. but even they get enough of it all.that's when willow is called in, to babysit him and keep him out of trouble. but half the time trouble finds him, sometimes he welcomes it, sometime he doesn't but either way he still doesn't care about the outcome. with willow in the picture he's getting a one track mind and that only results with wanting her in his bed, not once or twice but forever. but his upbringing makes him belief he's not worth it, he just had to look at his brothers, just as loos a canon like he was in their own way and he knew enough. their father? he'd be better of dead and buried.
willow thought things were going better, with roman and with them together. he finally opened up to her. but it was too good to be true and it all came crumbling down and now the one thing he asked for is being tested : trust.

what a ride this was! roman is something else, his brother... just as bad ass. everything doesn't mean a thing until you meet the right woman, then it makes sense. loved this first book about the knight brothers and i can't wait to read the rest of them!!

SEAL's Bride: A Secret Baby Romance SEAL's Bride: A Secret Baby Romance by Vivian Wood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

sawyer came back. more then a decade he's been back and gone, his last stint keeping him away for 4 years. when he's called back by his father, presenting him and his two brothers with an ultimatum about the ranch, he didn't think he could enjoy being back. the three of them had to make plans, secure age old handshake deals.
what sawyer wanted most was to get back to remy, the one girl who was always there, the one girl who knew him like no other. but whenever he mentioned her name his brothers acted cold and evasive. when he volunteered to talk with her family about the family deal, he was nearly chased from their property.
something wasn't adding up but despite it all he still wanted her and only her.
slowly he manages to break through her wall and he has a bit of hope. but then there came that one cal and 6 words that changed everything : your son is in the hospital.

this secret has been looming over their connection since the start of the story, people being evasive, her own views on what to do or not to do.
he may be a bad ass ex SEAL but they still grew up and lived in a small podunk christian town. her having a child out of wedlock didn't really help things along.

it's an emotional ride as you see both battling with their feelings both only wanting one thing in the end: happiness.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

hannibal is brother number four but he's as reluctant as ever. but then elena stepped in, wrote an article about him and all hell broke loose. women from all over the place were texting, calling, mailing and even appearing on his doorstep.
he did not want a mate!!!
in a final effort his sister-in-law convinces him to go on one date in town. things went from bad to nuclear proportions bad. his last date showed up, hairy from top to bottom, low voice, adamsapple poking out, blond wig askew and one of the fake boobs aka coconuts falling out.
the waitress had a nice idea and hannibal didn't know how fast he could jump on that idea.
mikki had suggested taking a fake fiancée , she didn't think hannibal would proposition her on the spot. but she was tight on money and well she did have a small crush on him.
what started out as pretending, turns into a lot more and when his bear actually bonds to mikki things are taken to another level.
but danger is lurking around the corner as a certain general can't face the fact "his" squad has quit their job. he sends in one of his other shifter teams to take care of the vega brothers once and for all!

if you think that is the end of it, you better go pick up the book and read for yourself. i'm pretty sure we're in for another fabulous ride of shifters with an edge to them ;-)

Review: All That Glitters

All That Glitters All That Glitters by Erin Kellison
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

mica was the heir to the Sol family but she always followed her own path, even now when she had to get to her younger sister's wedding. she didn't really plan being shot out of the sky, and certainly not trodding through the dense and volatile Sol forest. hoping she could outrun the scavengers she thought she was dreaming when she hear simon's voice, old lover of hers. practicality set in when she figured out it weren't scavengers after her but simon.
that spark that always was there only came back with a vengeance but she's been away for so long, she didn't know what happened to him, why he would take such drastic steps.
things are rocky from the get go but with her wit and her royal name behind her she turns things around, only for them to take a turn for the worse.
it's like this story holds the two step forward and one step back-routine close to its chest. it was nice to see her standing up for herself and making choices she should have made years ago. even better to see some wrongs being righted as we go along.

lovely first book in a new series by Erin!

Review: Tempting Me: A Bad Boy Romance

Tempting Me: A Bad Boy Romance Tempting Me: A Bad Boy Romance by Natasha Tanner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

what a lovely read this was. after spending her bachelorette party at a strip joint (and getting cozy with the lead male stripper) Aria wasn't suspecting to walk in on her fiance doing the horizontal tango with her best friend. aria didn't know where to go and one face kept popping up in her mind : ryan.
hoping for some anonymity she went back to the strip bar, hoping to drink away her sorrow. striking up a conversation with the female bartender aria knew things had to change.
when she's confronted by her parents and basically being cut of from her money she knew big chances needed to be made. so she decided to go from rich girl to working for hard earned cash. the bartender turned out to be a lifesaver and offered her couch to crash on.
ryan, well he turned out to be a douche or wasn't he? when he comes knocking on their door asking for her help aria is more then happy to help him out.
for both of them it's like a new start, really getting to know each other. the interest is mutual and it doesn't take long before things get hot. but this all doesn't mean things go down without a problem or some difficult hurdles along the way.

lovely read how two very different people of different classes got together and fought to let their past and upbringing not get in the way of what they truly wanted : each other.

Review: Commander Bear (Bear Shifter Paranormal Romance)

Commander Bear (Bear Shifter Paranormal Romance) Commander Bear (Bear Shifter Paranormal Romance) by Scarlett Grove
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

you remember the rescue bears? geek bear, corey? now we meet zoe, his baby sister as she sets of the starts of the bear patrol series.
zoe's been a wild child, gone for 7 years without a care in the world, or so it seemed for her brother. little did he know she fell in with the wrong man, a man who found out she was a shifter and used it for his personal gain. zoe arrived at fate mountain, enrolled in the new school her brother and his mate set up and learned a trade. she loved what she was doing but it also hurt because she knew it was only a cover to get close to her next target. her only hope to clear of the debt she had once and for all.
rollo morris is the chief of police in fate mountain and i called in when a small but very pricey set of jewelry gets stolen from a local mansion. there are no clues apart from one partial big feline pawprint on the grounds.
now pictures this : zoe gets signed up on mate.com by a friend, rollo has been on there for ages hoping to find his mate. it wouldn't be fate mountain if the app didn't match them up. but things didn't go as they should. zoe didn't want to meet, she didn't want a mate.
big is his surprise when he runs in on her by accident the day after, putting together she's corey sister (knowing he's a bear like his father and she's panther like her mother) he starts putting one and one together.
things go into overdrive when he manages to stop her from handing over the jewels, resulting in him basically apprehending (kidnapping) her and bringing her to a remote location in hope of breaking down her wall and find out why she did what she did.

the battle between them isn't easy, trust is hard to find but you have to belief in something and rollo believes in his mate making the right choice in the end.

what an opening ride this was! i loved the rescue bears and if this is any indication for the bear patrol i know i love these just as much! loved how we ran into some of the "older" characters and were able to catch up with them.

Review: Dragon Betrayed

Dragon Betrayed Dragon Betrayed by Ophelia Bell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

first of all this book isn't for the feint of heart. some scenes go deep and do not shy away from the deep, dark and dangerous desires and cravings of a being.
that being said, those who have read the previous series know Belah comes with a past, this books clarifies it all. it helps you understand why she is the way she is and how all the future drama was created.
i'll only say it started out as a love story and turned into so much more. mistakes were made and now so many had to pay the price including Belah!

it was a dark read, it explained so much. it felt real and raw, just how this type of topic should read. it can be an eye-opener for many people.

harper is running for her life! the diplomat was too stubborn to go with her but she new she had to make it to the panic room. where was the SEAL team when you needed them? for months there had been rumors about an attack but the guys at the top had enough and had the team deployed for two weeks. they should be back today! in a last effort to reach out she calls Michael "Mad Dog" Wainwright, the team-leader.
Michael goes into overdrive when he gets a call from Harper, only to be cut of before he could get all the info, but hearing her say the embassy is under attack, is enough to let him spring to action.
When hours pass and he finally reaches the safe room she's hiding in, he gets locked in with her until it is absolutely safe the threat is dealt with.
harper and michael have some unfinished business and michael would love some answers once and for because as far as he's concerned, harper is it for him but he's tired of her constant evasive behavior and he wants to get tot he bottom of it.

fast paced, thrilling introduction to the Deep-Six team. loved this short glimpse into their world, it's a good example of what is to come!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

another gem in this series. things have never been good for angelica but she's hit rock bottom and she needs the cash to take care of the only person in her life that mattered, her baby sister.
what she didn't think would happen was selling her own blood and services to get that money. as one of the vampires steps in to "sample" their new asset a world opens up she never could imagined to be true. and nothing happens like she thought they would. the vampire didn't want her to be a courtesan, he wanted her to be his companion, and his alone. he'd taken care of all her problems, including moving her sister to a top notch facility to take care of people with her specific problems. she had to pay him pack! but he was having none of that, he had his own reasons for doing what he did. all he wanted was for her to be happy.
the emotional rollercoaster these two go through had me routing for them from the get go. it read so easily i was near the end of the book before i knew it and that alone made me sad!

i loved these two!
amelia grew up with a father and brothers who hunted vampires for a living. her whole life she's been told they're bad, nasty, dangerous. she trained alongside her brother and could howl her own.
but then her roommate and best friend tess got in a bit of a pickle and needed cash. she wanted to help her out but there weren't much options. she didn't have that amount of money and she could think of only one way of making it it quickly. become a blood courtesans for the beings she's supposed to hunt.
at the auction she has to fight of a bit of attention but the one vampire who wins her is an enigma to her. he's nothing like her father and brothers told her. sure there was something simmering just below the surface, but he wasn't angry at her or with her. attraction between them bloomed really fast and amelia had a hard time placing it. specially with certain things he was saying. he wanted her, not just for what she could provide, but for who she was.
but when truths are coming out, danger is only around the corner.
Ethen and amelia winter, what a pair they make! you can just see it sizzling between them. i liked everything about the book, just one thing irked me : it had to end...

Bitten: A Vampire Blood Courtesans Romance Bitten: A Vampire Blood Courtesans Romance by Kim Faulks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

your money or your life, that's usually the question. now it's your money or your blodd (and a little something something)
nova tried her best to be perfect for her boyfriend jared, only he really didn't appreciate her. when things go from bad to worse and a vamp enforcers comes to warn him, she can't help but jump in. when the vampire turns to her she better be afraid, very afraid.

as Kol walks away from the last couple of humans he had to scare in paying up, he couldn't help but feel protective of the female. as she later turns up at the club he's livid she dared to endanger herself by even coming her. how naive can you get? but somehow she got under his skin and he had a hard time getting rid of that feeling. with a few calls made, he took over the debt of her dead beat boyfriend and started tracking her down to tell her they had more time. the place where he found here only made his unhuman blood boil! her boyfriend convinced her to sell her blood as a blood courtesans, only he forgot to mention it wasn't only blood that was exchanged! nova was outraged hearing the sex was on the menu as well, but instead of standing up for herself she just went with the flow of things. not even Kol's presence could sway her.
scared and defeated she did what needed to be done, secretly hoping Kol would come in and save the day.

i did enjoy the overall story. i however hoped that there would have been more interaction between kol and nova. i also understand not everybody is classified as a heroin but nova could have grown some balls. she saved herself for years and then when she finds out jared sold her blood AND her virginity : she could have been a bit more upset and fight a little for what she believed in for so long. that's my only really "bad" remark about the story. Kol, well Kol is Kol, mysterious in his own way yet likable for what he does.

Review: Vega Brothers: Alexander

Vega Brothers: Alexander Vega Brothers: Alexander by Kim Fox
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

the most reluctant of the bunch and how he crumbled at the sight of the one meant to be his. for years he battled his polar bear, keeping him subdued and caged. he will not take a mate, ever. not even to make sure they get to keep the ranch! hell no!
when elena, ava's sister, arrives at the ranch, she feels a bit overwhelmed by the vega brothers. they're all big, handsome, great sense of humor, did she mention gorgeous? all of them warned her about alexander, the fourth brother, he was grumpy and not really social and he was best avoided.
what she didn't expect was a behemoth of a naked man appearing out of the forest and kidnapping her like he did it every day. she was scared at first but when this man introduced himself and went out of his way to accommodate her her fear turned into curiosity and fascination. sure he was a bit gruff but he wasn't anything like his brothers told he was.
she knew about shifters, so she partly understood why he may be acting the way he did. she didn't think that it could work both ways.
with very limited time the two of them spend all their time together.

i would have thought that alexander's battle would have gone a whole other route, so i was surprised with how it really went down. that inner battle is lost or won at some point in time! and elena is just perfect, sassy to boot! fitting right in.

really enjoyed this story and can't wait for hannibal's

Review: Big

Big Big by Emme Rollins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

whatever name he went by in the past, currently he just goes by Ric. he's still big but not big like he used to be. it has taken him years of hard exercise, a change in eating but finally he's content with how he looks now. all this time he's been plotting and scheming to the one person he cared about most, the one person who hurt him the most. the one person who was able to break down the wall around his heart. a wall he spend years building up again. with his plan set in motion he wasn't prepared for that one person breeze back into his life and heart. hearing her side of things and no matter how many loopholes he made her jump trough, she did it all, all for him. because she not only cared for him, she loved him. not a love between step-siblings but the way a woman loves a man.
but he's afraid he risked it all, when coming clean hasn't the outcome he suspected they don't really get the time to process it all because real-life comes knocking on their door.

what a ride this was!! i thought all was going well and then things broke down. so much to rebuild. but then the ending : what a rollercoaster of sacrifice that was!! things didn't go easy, that's for sure. enjoyed this from start to finish

Review: Offside: A Bad Boy Sports Romance

Offside: A Bad Boy Sports Romance Offside: A Bad Boy Sports Romance by Abbey Foxx
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

what do you do with a bad boy athlete banned from playing for a year in his own country?
you ship him of to the US in hopes he behaves himself.
jasper was fuming, he didn't agree with any of it but he had no other choice or he was risking his whole career as a rugby player. and now they want him to play american football? sorry football.
the girl picking him up from the airport quickly squashes his high hopes of his stay in America. he's not here to drink, chase woman and get in trouble. he can manage that, he thinks. because the girl has taken residency in his mind, that fact she's engaged isn't really stopping him. he likes her, plain and simple. he keeps his distance but when he sees her together with her fiance he knows those two can't last.
after the first game it's clear why. he may have done a lot of things, even had a ton of women but he never ever cheated on a girl.
things on the field aren't super duper either. he has to learn the game but none in the team, nor the trainer, have a drive to win and it's eating him up like a dark hole. he wants to play, he wants to win, it's his sole purpose on a field: play to win.
after some initial bumps on the roads he gets to know penny better and he still can't help liking her more then he should. when she figures out her fiance is back to his old ways, she doesn't hesitate to call him on it and with proof in hand ends a relationship that hasn't been healthy in ages.
penny is mad at everything that happened, the cheating, again, was the last drop. not getting jasper out of her min isn't helping either. it's like a moth being lured to a flame. one encounter is all it took to get fireworks. she knows she shouldn't but something about jasper and the way he is with her, it touches parts (literally and figuratively) nobody before him has.
how will these two work against time when events orchestrated by other people put them to the test?
you get sucked in from the moment you start. the bantering, the sparring, it just works with these two. you can tame a bad boy but luckily he's not losing his dirty ways.
enjoyed it a lot!

Review: Wanted: A Blood Courtesans Novel

Wanted: A Blood Courtesans Novel Wanted: A Blood Courtesans Novel by Kristen Strassel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

what a ride this was!
"corynne" was on the run. her powers had done the one thing she really didn't want to happen: it killed a person. but she had no control over it and she only saw one way out of it. become a blood courtesan and convince the vamp to turn her in hopes of her power being more in control.
only things don't go as easy as she thought. not when Nash buys her as his courtesan but acts differently towards her, caring even. even though she can admit it stirs feelings inside of her, her goal can't be forgotten: she wants to become a vampire. at every turn Nash blocks her request, saying she isn't ready, that he knows about her powers and that he'll learn her to control them.
as corynne is negotiating her contract, she wishes one of the girls to be found and two blood courtesans to go with her (hey you have to find friends somewhere). it's finding the friend that will make things dangerous, choices to be made, hearts broken, betrayal...
the road to their shaky HEA isn't without troubles. i can see more happening in their future and i'll add that i may secretly hope we may one day (it never hurts to be optimistic!)
really loved and enjoyed the story. devoured it one sitting of one hour and a half. so not a long read but just enough to escape our own harsh reality. if you enjoyed the other Courtesans books than you will enjoy this just as much!

kim delivers another ace book! thrilling rides, sizzling moments, drama, emotions, betrayal. it all happens in this book.
rookie cop Nora is tired of sitting behind her desk. when she's called in and put on a security details she's not sure why she has to do that but her boss is rather convincing it's that or even more paperwork for decades.
her mood isn't really good since her new hot as hell neighbor is messing up her mind. he's rude, he's loud, he keeps the building awake with his music and, yay, all the neighbors rely on her, the resident cop, to make him listen.
payne is taken with the teeny tiny spitfire of a cop. he shouldn't be, he isn't here for her, he's here to do his job. and his job happens to be to kill the one she is protecting. yet his libido and mind are in agreement that nora is worth his time and attention.
as the verbal sparring between them starts igniting more and more, nora can't help but start thinking there is more to payne that he is telling her. she knows he's a former SEAL, but something about it isn't adding up. same as her boss is acting like a douche about her security detail. things aren't so much above board as she would like them to be, but she has no real other choice but to suck it up and show up for work and be a glorified coffee lady!
payne is getting more invested in nora then he thought, hopes of having a normal live creep into his mind. that his employers seems to know about his interest in nora is ringing all kind of bells and he knows she isn't safe any longer. he knows he can't just let her go, he has to make her understand. it's in that break or make moment their feelings get to a boil and both have to dig deep to accept where it is all leading too.
as important as this moment was to them, it took too long and it sets so much in motion that i was afraid one of them wouldn't make it!

the battle of emotions between these two is hard and heartfelt. their heated moments are dominant and thriving and just perfect for them both!.

gotta love payne's double entendre of just the lack there off and nora quick and witty replies. on opposites sides of the law, will these two make it work or will things start to crumble when they're separated?

what a read and ride this was. was hard to put down the book. i just had to know what was coming. one more chapter, than one more and another and before i knew it i was at the end. another masterpiece kim!

Review: Prescription for Love: A friends-to-lovers gay romance

Prescription for Love: A friends-to-lovers gay romance Prescription for Love: A friends-to-lovers gay romance by Devyn Morgan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

austin and matthew grew up together. one had a secret, the other had the money. one can't cope much longer and backs off, but the other one isn't having it and one moment it's make or break for them. but still it doesn't go easy and it takes more time again for them to sort out their feelings for each other. just when they think they have it all sorted out and planned their future together tragedy strikes hard for one of them and their lives take on a different patch.
nine years pass but old feelings and memories never went away and when a chance encounter brings them back together it's like those nine years haven't passed at all.

it was an emotional roller-coaster for these two, it only proves that love has no limits, not even time can stop it! enjoyed this short sweet read by devyn.

Review: Falling for the Bear

Falling for the Bear Falling for the Bear by Sennah Tate
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

book five, the ending of a story well built. short stories connecting with each other through the witches who one by one find their mate in a shifter, a kind that was told to be bad and evil to them.
but these aren't ordinary witches! they have a mind of their own, maybe need a bit of convincing here or there but they're are smart enough to figure out that what is happening isn't a shifter problem. oh no, it is very much a witch problem and it's going to take all five of them to figure it all out and put an end to it all.
now let it be that witch number five isn't happy about shifters, having been hurt by one in the past. when her best friend asks her to accompany her to a shifter bar to talk to her new bear shifter mate, she's not having it. why would she? she just had a date with the new hot IT guy from work ...
can you imagine her surprise when her friend manages to convince her to come along only to find the IT guy at the same bar with the very people they were meeting? just her luck that the guy she was interested in had to turn out to be a shifter, a bear shifter even! what once thought to be a nice match was suddenly out of the question and it seems both of them agreed on at least that. but a game of pool, a bit of booze started blurring that line. but things take a turn for the worse when the tavern is attacked by rogue wolves and the presence of the two witches can't really be hidden. when he saves her, he has no other option but to hide away with her because he knows he'll be persona non grata for helping a witch, even if said witch didn't do anything wrong to them, she even tried to help. the hatred that build up over the years is hard to work around.
when the two are staying hidden, their initial attraction seems to have a mind of it's own, so does her magic and his bear.
will they be able to work things out? will either start to recognize what really is going on?

it's going to take one big moment for all of the pieces fall into the right places!

what a ride these books were. sad it's over, i really would mind one more book to read about the aftermath of it all. what will the shifters do? what will the witches do? some questions are still there. hint hint miss tate
